Ateliér 57 and The Beroun Jazz Festival

The very first Vápenicefest!

The weekend saw among many things on the music front the very first Vápenicefest. Everything took place in the home yard of Prague’s best Jazz Club, the one in Beroun 😉 And once again the weather lords had blessed the event, sunshine, summer heat so much that all the shadow places were very fast gone, fortunately there was no shortage of refreshment so everybody was happy for that also. 🙂  An all together well organised event that will continue 14.7.2024 15.00-21.00, I suggest you cancel whatever is in your calendar for that day and get your bum over to Bara, Jesse and Stella. And yes of course, bring the kids this is a family happening and from what I saw yesterday the youngster loved it!

Bara and Jesse had obviously worked very hard for this day but it was worth it. Everything was perfect, nobody got hungry, thirsty, the participants were all smiles which tells you everything. Thank you B&J and Stella 🙂

The music

The music presented can be named, “something for everybody”, and that’s what it was. You are not supposed to like everything, it would be boring if you did, but to my narrow minded head all the performances held a very high standard in their own genre. I of course had my own expectations and they didn’t fail. Hetty Kate Quartet didn’t let me down this time either and Ondřej Štveráček + band had a set that they must have heard all the way to Prague and it was soooo goooood! I will not go to all the artists for yesterday, it would be very stuppied to review something that you don’t understand, right? But I’ll have to mention Robyn Brown, an Australian guest star that sang one song during Hetty Kate’s set. What a lady! So as you can understand, I hope, the music served to us yesterday held the same standard as everything else in this first Vápenicefest! 🙂

The audience

If the music was something for everybody, the same goes for the spectators. Here were people from a little bit of everywhere, some nutheads even showed up on a motorcycle! The only thing we held in common was that we were all very happy with what was being offered to us. Family friendly, relaxed, positive are the words that first come to mind when thinking about yesterday. So what else is there to say other than see you next time! 🙂
