Petra Ernyei & Jazz Six
The Czech Republic is full of brilliant musicians, last Saturday at the Jazzdock, Prague, we saw yet another proof of that. When the established musicians Jakub Tököly – p; Petr Kalfus – sax; Miroslav Hloucal – trp; Adam Tvrdý – g; Jiří Stivín jr. – dr; Tomáš Baroš – b. get together and form a lineup they call Jazz Six and they put Petra Ernyeiová – voc. up in front, things can’t really go wrong, and it didn’t, on the contrary.
Old jazz standards that have been performed by this band and others since the beging of time came alive in a way that one understands the meaning of the saying, “it’s not what you do, it’s how you do it”! And not only the oldies, everything that the band did was carried out with the same intensity. It was a long time ago since I heard The Girl from Ipanema and enjoyed it so much, this thanks to Petra Ernyeiová who didn’t what to finish the set, and gave us an encore that even surprised the rest of the band, at least it looked like from the audience perspective, thanks for that!
I could write a novel about the individual skills that each band member has, how they work with each other in a way sometimes is hard to understand, but I’m too lazy for that. Let me only ascertain that when a band has fun together, you can be 100% sure that so does the audience, Thank you Petra Ernyei & Jazz Six, see you next time.
