“It’s not what you do, it’s how you do it”

Prague’s best jazz club, the one in Beroun, held its monthly concert event last night. And faithful to its tradition the performing group/band named, Lorenz Kellhuber Trio, Lorenz Kellhuber – p; Jesse Simpson – dr; Joe Sanders – b. held the same high quality that we have been spoiled with so far. A journey into the Great American Songbook may not sound so exciting but…  “It’s not what you do, it’s how you do it” A cliche yes, yet it came to its right last night. The gentle, sensitive, touching  and in many ways original approach to these old jazz standards is as brave as an enjoyable way to treat the Great American. It also is a good example of what you can achieve if one has an open mind.

It’s my understanding that yesterday’s concert and the whole tour is a part of a bigger project called „Standard Experience“. Hosted by Lorenz Kellhuber who also is very much responsible for the musical arrangements, but last night saw three full-blooded professional musicians that complemented each other in a way that I really hope we’ll meet again.
