Christmas is coming…

Are you ready?

This is not necessarily a post for yhalinen.com, but I know that many of you are waiting for it, especially if you have kids so… I’ll try to make it short, very short. It’s time to start planning your Christmas trip to Prague.

First, the tree for Old Town Square is chosen, a 27 meter spruce that comes from the Liberec region near the town of Mimoň. Don’t think that it’s an easy task to pick out the right tree, this one had competition from almost 40 other trees! The 56 year old tree will be cut down on the 25th of November, they’ll transport it to Prague in the night between Nov. 27-28. The route? I have no idea, if it’s important there’s something called Google, use that. Everything should be ready on December 2 for the opening of the traditional Christmas market.

And if you read the last line you had the second piece of crucial information. The Christmas markets in Old Town, Wenceslas Square, and Náměstí Republiky will be open from Dec. 2, 2023, to Jan. 6, 2024, from 10 a.m. to 11 p.m.

Of course Prague has a lot of other Christmas markets too, if you get here It might be worth checking them out. For example one that many locals favor is outside the Church (Basilica) of St Ludmila at Náměstí Míru, Prague 2-Vinohrady. They take a false start since the opening is on Nov. 20 and goes on until Christmas eve 24.12. open daily 10-20. I personally recommend this, it has everything that you’ll find in the top three markets except the hundreds of thousands people that pushes and shoves you when trying to move around. Merry Christmas! Prague had +25 C’ yesterday… 🙂
