Less is more!
The final part of the miniseries Blood, Sweat and Tears is here, part 5, or call it Libor Šmoldas 4 & 3 goes video if you want, “A rose by any other name would smell as sweet” (W.Shakespeare). Because that’s what the final result is all about, a music video that puts the music up front. No effects, no tricks with the sound, no nothing that would draw the attention away from what this is all about, jazz music, I should say the excellent jazz music, that’s what this is, of course. When you take one of the best jazz guitarists in Europe (World?) and you put him in the company of his own kind (Libor Šmoldas Quartet; Mikuláš Pokorný – p; Jesse Simpson – dr; Tomáš Baroš – b; Libor Šmoldas – g; and Libor Šmoldas Organ Trio; Jakub Zomer – HB-3; Daniel Šoltis – dr; Libor Smoldas – g), one’s expectations are high, I know mine was, and, mission completed, expectations fulfilled!
With six videos divided equally between the quartet and the trio and with four of Libors own songs and two by Eddie Vinson this is a great presentation of skills, professionalism, joy and the love for the music, and not only Libors. This is also an excellent start for those of you who get allergic reactions when they hear the word jazz, give it a try, you won’t be disappointed.

The videos are in our so hyperactive world a refreshing input, a raw document of hard work with the love and joy present all the time, go and have a look, if you keep an open mind I’ll think you will be surprised. Like I already mentioned, no effects, the light isn’t alway by the book etc. and yet these videos could easily be used for educational purposes in any of the country’s conservatoires, because this is what it always should be about, the music! Sometimes Less is More!
