Bio Trio @ U Staré paní 28.5.2026
If you felt the earth move in Prague last night, you were probably right. Don’t worry, though—the readings on the seismometer were just caused by Bio Trio (Lukáš Chejn on guitar, Jakub Zomer on organ/vocals, and Martin Kopřiva on drums). There is absolutely no reason to panic. I stand by what I have said many times: this is one of Prague’s most intense, straightforward bands. Standard rules simply fly out the window when they take the stage, and last night proved it yet again.
It was intense, straightforward, and heavily driven by their original material. There were absolutely no speed limits. The entire set was built around Lukáš’s fabulous Stratocaster guitar play—a pure masterclass in how to handle an electric six-string. His almost aggressive approach left the audience gasping for breath more than once. It was totally captivating.
Even though we saw a different side of Bio Trio last night, make no mistake: both Jakub and Martin held their ground perfectly. When given the spotlight, they showed exactly what they are made of. Jakub remains one of the top Hammond players in the country, and as I have mentioned before, his vocals have evolved to make him a serious singer to watch. Meanwhile, Martin’s drumming provides a reliable anchor; he is a rock in more ways than one.
It was a different gig than expected, but that is the trademark of a great band. You play what you feel, not what people expect. There are enough bands touring this planet with the exact same setlist and arrangements for 30 years. I know they have their place in the music industry, but just not in my music world.
