Outstanding individual performances…

Adam Tvrdý Trio @ Jazz Dock 9.3.2025

Last night at the Jazzdock we were offered a band with experience, musicians who knew each other well enough without the need to ask “what’s then”, no need for music sheets or guidelines where to go next. A group with self confidence, skills and most of all, the joy of playing. I’m talking about Adam Tvrdý Trio (Adam Tvrdý – gr; Jiří Stivín Jr. – dr; Petr Dvorský – b.). And needless to say (I say it anyway 😀) we in the audience were in for a treat, and have no doubt, we enjoyed every second of it. A two set performance built on known and not so known tunes, served with that a personal touch that you can do when you’re good enough, and these guys were! 😀 Many call this trio jazz musicians but they could easily fit into rock, blues, latin etc. that is if you have a need to compartmentalize them, I don’t. So just let us call it for what it was, very good music!

And that was not to be the end of it, the highlight of the evening was the individual solos we got from each and one performer. The mastering they all had of their instruments took your breath away, I know, more clichés but it’s true. And I’m not talking about the one solo of the night, they were there all the time, absolutely incredible performances that I don’t remember when I last heard. The audience in Jazzdock is fortunately a very music knowing crowd, they are there for the music, the liquid is not the main reason. I say fortunately because this music deserved people who could appreciate what they heard, and we did 😀, the ovation and encore was if something, a proof of that 😀. An extra bonus goes to Adam, the leader of the pack 😀, for letting his musical friends show what they are made of 🙏. I hinted to you about this concert in the hotspots for the month of March, and does of us who were there today know why, and for those of you who missed this, I strongly suggest you get yourself to the next stage where this trio is available live, because they worth it and so are you… 😀
