Soulmate’s that found each other.
I’d like to know the feeling when you as an artist go up on the stage, when you have a performance with a fellow colleague who you have never even seen or met before. You make up a setlist when you meet, about 30min. before the gig starts. You have a totally different background, one being an established musician who is world wide recognized, the other an upcoming young star with a lot of positive reviews in his bag. You’re performing in a (jazz)club, only half full of drinking talking guest, and yet, when the the first chords ring out to a dashing blues everybody in the audience goes dead quiet, because we understand/hear that what’s coming out of the speaker’s is something a little bit over the normal. A quick look at the stage confirms it, two soulmates have joined together and performing in a way that you always dreamed about experiencing when you go for a concert, but that is so rare, and yet there they are…
Libor Šmoldas and Milan “Angelo” Novák @ U Staré paní (The Old Lady) last night was something I’m not sure how to describe, the joy, the skill, the mutual understanding, the harmony between this two absolutely outstanding guitarist made us a night to remember, and still it’s all an understatement. The way they let their instruments talk to each other without even having the need to look at each other is something very special. The guitar being mainly an extension to your body, a tool to let out something from your inside, from somewhere where there’s no passage normally. This is why I wonder how they must feel, finding a soulmate to talk to, to let out something so personal and beautiful.
