The best jazz club in Prague, the one in Beroun, is back to business after a well deserved break and in what way! Offering a three continent band that should be able to fill any club in the country was more than a perfect start for the 2025 season. Darren Heinrich Trio, Darren Heinrich – org; Libor Šmoldas – g; Jesse Simpson – dr; gave us a concert that can best be described as the synonym for “the joy of music”. Darren Heinrich, an Australian hammond virtuoso was a really nice and positive surprise. Yes, I had of course checked him up on social media so I had a clue of what was to come, but not in the way it was presented, wow. As it turned out, Darren is not only a skilful fullblod professional hammond master, but also a good storyteller and above all, a brilliant composer. All the tunes from last night had his handwriting, and they were good! 
We, the receiving part of the music, were not alone enjoying the evening, our own musical geniuses Jesse and Libor were clearly entertaining not only us but themselves also, that’s something you could clearly see and hear!

This trio has made a small tour in the republic, which came to an end with last night’s concert @ Ateliér 57, unfortunately, but… Here’s some inside information for you. Darren will stay in the country for a while to make a record. As a matter of fact, while I’m writing this blog, Darren is probably in the studio already. So something very interesting is on its way. Stay tuned to this site and you’ll receive all the necessary information on when, where, what. 
And again, I don’t know how they do it and I don’t really care as long as they keep it up. Ateliér 57 and their incredible ability to find these top international artists that we can come to enjoy once a month in an absolutely unique environment, something that you for sure will not find anywhere else in the Czech Republic. I have very conflicting feelings about A57, a part of me wants this to stay like it is, this is almost only for me, I don’t want anybody else here, hush, go away! While at the same time I understand that this deserves a bigger audience, but.. not too big So see you next month…
