Libor Šmoldas Quartet & the "Baptism" of SORRY, MILES!
Take Libor Šmoldas on guitar, Mikuláš Pokorný on piano, Jesse Simpson on drums, and Tomáš Baroš on bass, and you’ve got the Libor Šmoldas Quartet—a lineup that’s honestly hard to beat, even on the international stage.
They’ve been working on a project that’s already getting some serious buzz: “SORRY, MILES!”. It’s a musical investigation into some of jazz’s biggest hits that Miles Davis claimed as his own—revealing the true stories behind classics like “Four” and “Solar”.
The project has officially resulted in a brand-new CD, and the “baptism” (the big album launch) is set for Wednesday, March 11, 2026, at the legendary Jazz Club U Staré Paní.
I’ll be honest: I haven’t heard the full record yet. But I’ve got a gut feeling about this one. Every rumor and comment I’ve heard about their “Sorry Miles” live sets has been nothing but positive—people are talking about “infectious energy” and “brilliant improvisation”.
I caught the rumor yesterday and got it confirmed today. More info to follow as soon as I get my hands on it.
To be continued…
