Libor Šmoldas and Milan Angelo Novák @ U Staré paní 6.10.2025
It’s hard to believe that it’s been less than a year since these two guitar virtuosis, Libor Šmoldas 
Milan Angelo Novák met even physically for the very first time, so enjoyable, skillful and most of all relaxin was last night’s concert at U Staré paní (The Old Lady’s). The charm from the first contact has changed to a more professional approach where there’s no longer need to think about your partner’s next move because you know it already, you can fully concentrate on your own playing, something that benefits everybody, especially us in the audience! 
This collaboration works more than great with a set up like yesterday, established virtuoso and rising star virtuoso. Where Angelo, with his youthful energy and enthusiasm, his brilliant technique and very fast fingers, sometimes gets carried away because this is his world, and gives us some solos that would make many accomplished guitarists green with envy. Libor, our jazz ambassador in the world, gives the space to this young guitar wonderboy/man, maybe remembering his own youth?, balances the concert with his experience and every once in a while demonstrates his capability, showing he is someone to be counted on.

It’s with pleasure that I noticed that Libors monthly duo concerts are back on Old Lady’s set list. This is, just like yesterday, very relaxing and a little different concept to look forward to every month, something that the growing audience seems to have noticed too. In many ways it’s more intimate and one gets so much closer to the music then with the big bands. Is not always the size, it’s the way you swing it!
