Bio Trio @ Jazz Dock 2.2.2026
As I’ve mentioned before, this trio has the energy to heat all of Prague—but last night, they settled for Jazz Dock. After taking their positions, the band launched into a funky banger of an opening number, and the temperature never dropped after that.
Fresh from a successful European tour, Bio Trio—featuring Lukáš Chejn – g; Jakub Zomer – org/voc; Martin Kopřiva – dr, has finally found its way home. We were just as happy to have them back as they were to be here! Established in Prague in 2024, this group ignores musical ‘rules and regulations’ in favor of a setlist packed with stellar original compositions. They’ve officially made us love Mondays; there’s no better way to kick off the week than the performance we witnessed last night.

No new kids on the block
Make no mistake, these are no youngsters; they are seasoned professionals who have been around the block. They know exactly how to command a stage and captivate an audience. I’ve followed the bandleader, Jakub, through various ensembles, and as most of us know, his mastery of the organ is virtually unrivaled in this country. What was especially notable was Jakub’s vocal development; he has always possessed a powerful voice, but it is now far more refined and controlled, much to our benefit.
While I haven’t seen or heard Lukáš Chejn on guitar often, he is certainly not a new name to me. I must say, the way he handled his Nashguitar last night was more than impressive. His solos—whether at a blistering tempo or a soulful crawl—left the entire Jazz Dock crowd hushed and astonished. Furthermore, several of his original compositions showed immense promise, leaving the audience eager for a future studio release.
And in the back, Martin Kopřiva anchors the rhythm section—the final lock. At times, he seems to disappear into a world of his own as the beat remains relentless. He has a deeply personal way of feeling the groove that grabs the audience subtly; before you know it, you’re living in every beat alongside him.
Bio Trio turned Monday into a funk masterclass at Jazz Dock. Pure heat from the first note—I Do Like Mondays…
Thank you Bio Trio
