Comeback in Style

Lorenz Kellhuber Trio @ Ateliér 57, 15.2.2026

The longest break in Ateliér 57 history has come to an end—and in what a way! Yes, I’m referring to the best jazz club in Prague: the one in Beroun. Due to technical reasons, the doors had been closed since November 2025. If there was ever a fear that the audience might have forgotten about A57, those doubts disappeared the moment the last extra chair was squeezed into Jesse’s workshop. The place was as full as it gets, yet it retained that warm, pleasant atmosphere so signature to this space.

To be honest, the lineup might have had something to do with the crowd. 😉 Lorenz Kellhuber Trio – (Lorenz Kellhuber – p; Joe Sanders – b; Jesse Simpson – dr) What a success—a two-hour set containing everything that defines brilliant music. It shifted from moments so sensitive you could hear the proverbial needle drop (we all stopped breathing so we wouldn’t miss a note) to intense rhythms that made you want to stand up and feel the breeze of the music.

I’m no music expert, but something has evolved with Lorenz and his trio since I last saw them in September 2024. I felt a new level of confidence in Lorenz’s playing that draws the audience even closer. When I asked him about it later, he very politely said he “hoped he had changed.” If he and the guys went backstage for a good laugh about the blogger who knows nothing about jazz or music—hey, my treat! The concert was perfect and a stylish comeback for the best jazz club in Prague, the one in Beroun. Thank you, Lorenz Kellhuber Trio! 🙏🙏😀

P.S. Next concert is due to 29th of March @ 19.00 with Hermon Mehari Quartet
