Libor Šmoldas NYC Trio @ Jazz Dock 30.11.2025
Without any further ado only to the smooth sounds of Moon River opened last night’s concert at Jazz Dock with Libor Šmoldas NYC Trio, Libor Šmoldas – g; Jay Anderson – b; Adam Nussbaum – dr. & stand up comedy
ft. Bill Warfield – tr, and all the way to the last chords of the encore tune What a Wonderful World held a good as sold out Jazz Dock in a magic grip and made us believe that Christmas really got an early start this year, be the sentence a cliché or not, I don’t care, because I was there to hear, to see, to experience the spellbinding almost hypnotic sounds when NYC Trio took over the stage at Jazz Dock yesterday.
Yes, they’re back and better than ever, or maybe it only has been too long since the last time? Whatever it was is not important, what is important is that it was good, no it was actually so much more than that, and the loud ovation from the audience told me I was not alone with my feelings, on the contrary. With a mixture of Libors originals and standards, and an excellent blues by Adam, all performed by the outstanding skills these three musicians are in possession of, we were in for a treat last night that is quite rare to experience. Remember, even though they live in different continents this trio has a history that goes back to 2012, among others they have three albums on their CV so they are no strangers to each other, the seamless cooperation they are in possession of is something you can also hear, see, feel… in their stage appearance.
As a bonus last night, we were treated to a surprise when trumpet virtuoso Bill Warfield joined NYC Trio on stage. Bill, a near legend among New York trumpeters, showed us what a career spanning over four decades in the jazz capital of New York City requires. With his uncompromising and raw sound, he complemented last night’s trio more than well.
Still a chance
Libor Šmoldas NYC Trio has still a couple of gigs left on their European tour. If you have the chance, go and listen to these guys, treat yourself with a Christmas present that is worth something, because you’re worth it, you wont regret it, that’s a promise!
On 3.12. in Vyskov and 4.12. in Uherské Hradiště are the remaining public gigs. After that, who knows, since it’s not like Jay and Adam are the next door neighbours, so….
Thank you Libor Šmoldas NYC Trio
