Markéta Foukalová Folk Q @ Klánovice kulturní centrum BESEDA 27.1.2026
Yes, I’m aware that it’s only been a couple of weeks since I saw this band the last time., and the way they got to me then had made my expectations more than high last night at Klánovice kulturní centrum BESEDA , you’ll find the previous blog HERE. This is normally never good, one learns over the years not to get overwhelmed; staying grounded becomes more natural the more one gets involved., but… After Markéta Foukalová Folk Q, Markéta Foukalová – s; Jaromír Honzák – b; Marek Urbánek – dr; Mikuláš Pokorný – p,concert last night I wouldn’t mind attempting their gigs every night! 
Not only did they fulfill my expectations, they went far above and beyond them.

I’ll try not to repeat myself too much, go back to the previous blog, but, Mikuláš arrangements to these old songs are exceptional, I’ve always kept Mikuláš as one of the most promising pianists in the country, and this side of him is not only new but a pleasant surprise. This will look good on his CV and I can also see others approaching him to do arrangements once they realise what he has done here. Remember this was only the second concert for the band!
And Markéta who after her clothes changing from woman to artist takes the audience and holds it in a tight grip for the whole concert in an almost magical way. With her strong, emotional and sensitive voice and performance she makes sure that we want to stay in that grip she got on us.

Marek behind his drums making sounds that goes true your whole body and you wonder how, because the man hardly moves, and yet you feel the beat like he was playing inside you…
And in the back the professor, Jaromír, anchors the groove with motionless intensity, making us fully concentrate on the music.
The future...
This fabulous musical compound has really found something here to work on and to develop even further. I can see a future for this group and their music in this country, it’s not only skillful but so joyful that they would for sure get the attention they deserve (a discussion that didn’t get to the end ). It of course like anything else would need the right marketing and correct target group, hard work yes, especially when you have to get the money for the food and rent somewhere, but… It would be almost a crime to let this go wasted, and here comes the bad news 
. As for now, Markéta Foukalová Folk Q next concert is still in the planning stage, stay attached to this website and I promise you more information as soon as I get some myself. They are worth waiting for, trust me on that. And no, I’m not getting compensation in any way for writing this, it’s only so rare these day’s to run into something this good!
