Bohemia After Dark feat. Kosma Busheikin @ U Staré paní | 6.3.2026
Again? Yes, again! Because they can, and I’m worth it. Looking at my website, it’s no secret that a huge part of my life belongs to music—specifically good music. Last night, I wanted to pamper myself after a few hard “working” days, and I was in luck: Bohemia After Dark, the republic’s ultimate bebop band, was at The Old Lady to entertain me and a packed house.
I don’t mind that I saw them recently. First of all, they are simply that good. Secondly, with BAD, you never quite know what the lineup will be, which means every gig is a brand-new experience. Last night’s ensemble featured: Benjamin “Ben” Hague (dr), Libor Šmoldas (g), Martin Juzl (tr), Taras Voloshchuk (b), Andy Schofield (sax), and Suzanne Higgins (sax), with guest star Kosma Busheikin (b).
This multi-international collective has found its way into the hearts of Prague’s music lovers by staying true to the definitive New York sound of the 1940s and 50s. As I’ve mentioned before, bandleader Ben Hague has done a masterful job with these artists. Bebop is no easy feat—it demands incredible skill to navigate those signature fast tempos, intricate melodies, and complex harmonies.
Yesterday was no exception. Kosma Busheikin’s blues in E fitted the night’s concept like a glove. Perhaps there were even some small signs of the approaching spring in the air? Whatever it was, it made the event even more stellar. As long as they keep putting on shows like this, I have no doubt the club will stay packed.
As for me? I’ll definitely be going to hear BAD again!
