About time!

The Saturday afternoon highlight, Jazz On The Roof, brought to the stage yesterday something with a very high (jazz)standard , that is to say Petra Ernyei Trio, Petra Ernyei–voc; Adam Tvrdý–g; Petr Dvorský–b. A year has passed since I saw these top Czech musicians in this lineup the last time. They don’t gig very much anymore  and timetables are sometimes hard to sync, so it was with a small excitement that I waited on what to come. Already the first notes told me “no worries mate”, it was still there, everything that I and a sold out Rooftop waited and hoped for in the summer heat!  I’m going to make it easy for myself and quote my blog that I wrote a year ago about this trio. “Petra was the sun on yesterday’s cloudy day, but what impressed me most was the seamless collaboration between Adam on guitar and Petr on the bass. They were like one, like they never did anything else then played together, what a joy it was to listen to them.”  with the small addition that also Petra and Petr have developed their collaboration giving the whole setup even more charisma for their show. The obligatory solos presented by all three were sometimes absolutely outstanding, spiced up with some small, unexpected extras that made the whole concert even more enjoyable and exciting. I have no clue if these extras were intentional or not, maybe only meant for the band themself but I don’t really care, I just enjoyed everything that was offered, like the rest of the audience.
