Jazzy Summer 2026 is slowly coming to an end, and what a magnificent summer it was! Feeling a bit plaintive about the changing seasons? There is absolutely no need—looking at what this autumn brings, the music scene is offering true balm for the soul. The domestic offering is once again so abundant that it’s hard to stay on the ride.
And since we are living in the jazz capital of Europe, there’s no need to reinvent the wheel. Take a look at my highlighted selections for October, pick your choices, and I’ll see you at the gig!

HAMU Jazz Thursdays @ Divadlo Inspirace (Hot in the HotSpots).
As the autumn chill officially sets in, Jazz on the Roof goes into hibernation, to be replaced by an incredible indoor residency at Divadlo Inspirace.
We are moving from the open skies down into the beautiful, historic vaulted basement of Liechtenstein Palace. It is the perfect compact, intimate studio theater space for the exceptionally talented students and faculty of HAMU to showcase a brilliant mix of smooth, expressive, and boundary-pushing jazz.
Be sure to bookmark your calendar for these weekly Thursday sessions. The music kicks off at 19:30, and while there is absolutely no cover charge, the doors will close the second the room hits capacity—so make sure you show up on time!

- October 15 – Ansámbl Davida Dorůžky + JAM (David is a legendary teacher and a highly valued guitarist on the international scene.)
- October 22 – MKUltra / Hold poetismu (I don’t know anything about this particular lineup just yet, but that’s half the fun!)
- October 29 – Ladislav Nič Project + JAM (I’ve seen this combo perform before, so on the 29th you know exactly where to find me. They are excellent! 🎷🙌)

🏡 Ateliér 57 in October
The best Jazz Club in Prague, the one in Beroun 😉 has a double date in October! Do yourself a huge favor and make sure you arrive in plenty of time—the last few concerts here have been absolutely packed to the rafters. And if you’re wondering which night to choose? Considering the exceptionally high standard that Ateliér 57 always holds, the choice is incredibly easy: both, of course! 😀

🎸 Libor Šmoldas Residency @ U Staré paní
One of Europe’s leading jazz guitarists, Libor Šmoldas, is involved in so many incredible happenings at the Old Lady that I decided to list them all under one roof once again. Take your pick—there is bound to be something in here to satisfy your musical hunger!
Notable are the two late-night jam sessions, which have become some of the most popular events in the city. And it’s no wonder: they are fun, relaxed, and filled with excellent, nonstop music between 20:00 and 23:00. Pay close attention to the “In Duo” night as well—that intimate setup is always worth it. 🎹 Jakub Zítko & Orfanik Orchestra (feat. Aneta Langerová & Dorota Barová)
What a spectacular way to start October! The brilliant pianist and arranger Jakub Zítko composed, recorded, and released the magnificent suite Hyperboloid alongside a full symphony orchestra in December 2025. Now, that masterpiece stands as the foundational base for this exceptional performance on the very first day of October at Jazz Dock.
It is an immersive, eight-movement suite meticulously designed to mirror three deep axes of human experience: place, time, and feeling. If there are any tickets left at this point, consider yourself a true lottery winner—do not hesitate, just go for it! 🎫🚀

🎷 Muff
This highly recognized lineup is completely original and features a roster of musicians straight from the absolute top tier. While I have never personally witnessed them perform live, the leaflet for the show promises something truly electric: „Each concert is an original, created here and now, in direct contact with the audience.“ If you are looking for fresh, unpredictable energy on a Monday night, this sounds like the perfect excuse to go out and give them a try! 🪐✨

I first became acquainted with this incredible quartet last summer. Honestly, the only thing that bugs me about this group is that I didn’t discover them even earlier! Don’t just take my word for it, though—go out and listen to them live. I’ve already bought my ticket! 🎫😀

🤠 Markéta Foukalová Folk Q
Cowboy songs ala Czech Republic doesn’t sound very special on paper, does it? Sitting around the campfire making the sausages turn black? Wrong, wrong, wrong! This project is easily one of the best things to happen in the Czech music world in 2026.
The sheer passion and raw feeling you will experience here is exceptional. Markéta’s stunning vocals and Mikuláš Pokorný’s brilliant arrangements of these classics are so profound it will leave you breathless. And when you add one of the finest rhythm sections to be found in the entire country—with professor Jaromír Honzák on bass and the masterful Marek Urbánek on drums—you get a lineup that honestly deserves a musical Nobel Prize! Go out, listen for yourself, and you will understand immediately! 🎫😀

Yes, you read that right! If you are looking for a slightly different, restorative way to approach live music, this is it. Since morning yoga is admittedly a bit outside of my usual late-night jazz circuit, I highly suggest you visit the organizers’ page for all the finer details.

⚡ Botticelli Baby
There is absolutely nothing domestic about this band’s origin, but they are the ultimate exception that proves the rule. With a explosive musical style that aggressively mixes jazz, punk, and swing, they will completely blow you away. Buy your ticket immediately—if there are any left—and hold on tight! In spite of my warnings, you are still in for a wild sonic journey you could never possibly expect! 🌩️🔥
