Libor Šmoldas & Kateřina Hošková in Duo @ U Staré paní 8.12.2025
This year’s final of Libors in Duo concerts was held last night at U Staré paní with promising young jazz guitarist Kateřina Hošková as a guest to Libor Šmoldas. Yesterday’s concert held all the ingredients that we have been spoiled with by Libor and his performing guests/colleagues for the whole year, high classed, skilled and very good jazz music. With a set list of known and not so known standards we lovers of good music were once again in for a treat, not a bad way to spend the beginning of the work week in the middle of all the Christmas fuzz. Because that is what was characteristic of last night’s show, a cool and relaxed atmosphere that made you disappear for a couple of hours from the little stressful world that is to be found everywhere at this time of the year.
Libor has a good ability to pick up his partners for these in Duo concerts, whether they are experienced artists who have earned their spurs or young future promises on their way up to fame. Kateřina showed us last night that she was not an exception, with already good technical skills and what’s more important the right touch and feeling for her playing, the thing that you don’t really learn in school!, she gave us a warning that this was not the last we will hear about Kateřina Hošková.
Libors in Duo concerts at the Old Lady have definitely been one of the highlights in the Prague jazz world 2025, intimate, personal and most of all so very high class music wise. I for sure hope that this series will continue next year. As for now I found one in Duo at the Old Lady next year, on Wednesday 04. 03. 2026, 20:00 you should put a mark in your calendar, then we will see and hear Libor with a guest not yet named.
