🎷 Jazz on the Roof – July Lineup
You all know I am incredibly fond of this concept for so many reasons: classy music at a very affordable price, a perfect way to introduce jazz to first-timers, and the ultimate start to your weekend. Located right in the heart of Prague, it is just a short walk to anywhere you want to spend the rest of your evening!
Being out on the roof is amazing, but if the weather turns, moving downstairs under the roof isn’t bad either! One thing you can always be sure of: the artists are top-tier. To make your planning easy, here is this month’s Saturday afternoon lineup:
- 4.7. – OJ Žlábek Blues Band (Excellent Chicago Blues made right here in the CZ!)

I’ve spent time listening to this latest record from one of our leading domestic jazz pianists. Take my word for it: these are absolutely not your standard, everyday jazz arrangements, and you should be incredibly grateful for that! This is officially THE BeBop band in the whole Republic! One of the coolest parts is that you never quite know exactly who is going to step on stage. But honestly? It doesn’t matter even a little bit—the music is always top-tier, and the musicians are always even better!

🎷 Czech Jazz Workshop: Teachers’ Opening Concert & Jams
Here is the inside scoop on this year’s workshop, and it looks more than interesting enough to give it a go—I highly suggest you check it out!
The world-renowned faculty kicks things off with the Teachers’ Opening Concert on Saturday, July 18th. Even better, you can catch them playing late-night jam sessions throughout the week: July 19th and 20th at U Staré paní, and July 21st to 24th over at Jazz Dock!

🎷 Czech Jazz Workshop: Jazz Dock Jam Sessions
If you missed the opening weekend, don’t worry! The incredible workshop energy moves down to the river for the second half of the week. The faculty and students will be taking over the stage for four straight nights of spectacular, late-night jam sessions. It is definitely worth checking out!

🎤 Petra Vlková and Sonic Playground
This is a powerhouse trio featuring some of Prague’s absolute finest jazz musicians, all led by a charismatic singer with a deeply personal voice. This is easily one of the best live bands this country has to offer in the genre—you’re going to love it! 😀
