Libor Šmoldas & Max Light In Duo @ U Staré Paní | 17.6.2026

Two guitars that pass in the night. Libor Šmoldas and Max Light had never met before, but their musical chemistry was instant. These are two masters who have absolutely nothing left to prove. They can no longer even be called just “talented,” as they are both deeply established artists. Performing completely free of pressure, driven by mutual respect, and fueled by a pure love for the music, they delivered an incredibly relaxed and enjoyable evening at U Staré Paní last night. Frankly, few musicians are capable of reaching that level of effortless performance.

Of course, the evening’s repertoire was built upon the same classic jazz standards we have all heard a million times before. But there is an old saying: “It’s not what you do, it’s how you do it.” That proverb has probably never been more true than it was yesterday. Watching these two maestros perform with such utter devotion made me feel privileged to be at the Old Lady last night.

This magical atmosphere unfolded despite the fact that there was almost no audience present. Only a handful of listeners chose to swap a warm summer evening for a jazz version. I will confess—Libor and Max absolutely deserved a much bigger crowd for what they pulled off. But as for myself? I was secretly happy that all the usual loud, drunk, and distracting elements stayed out on the street. It allowed the few of us inside to concentrate 100% on the incredible art being handed to us. Thank you, Libor and Max. I sincerely hope you guys plan a replay someday! If you do, just promise to let me know first… 🙏🙏😀
