Petra Vlková Trio

Jazz Under The Roof, Saturday 14/09/2024

The rain has been pouring down for days, the Vltava river is flooding, outside you’ll find the definition for gray, but in Jazz Dock, the summer continues. Under the name Petra Vltava Trio, these three light spots in the darkness, Petra Vlková – voc; Jakub Zomer – piano; Jan Tengler – bass, showed us that there’s still summertime to be found, you just need to be at the right place at the right time. 😊

Yesterday’s afternoon session was just as relaxed and joyful as one was expecting and hoping for. As a small bonus it also introduced a new musician to my world of music, Jan Tengler double bass. I don’t know why I have not run into this guy before? Maybe because the whole Republic is full of absolutely brilliant musicians? Jan made no exception, with his very own style of handling the bass, with influence from the electric version of the instrument, he for sure has his place on the Czech musical stage, no doubt.
Jakub on the piano had (as usual) a very good afternoon, maybe inspired by his son’s success in a chess tournament, I don’t know, but he can really do magic on the black and white keyboard, yesterday’s cooperation with Petra and Jan was a true joy to listen to.
And Petra, with her very personal and warm voice and stage appearance was the final flourish for the afternoon. With a slightly changed repertoar that suited her perfectly, we saw and heard a “new” Petra that obviously had enjoyed her summer holiday, her self confidence and her whole being has taken a step forward, and of course we, the audience, are among the ones that benefit from it.
An overall pleasant afternoon in the middle of the Prague flood and autumn weather, thank you Petra Vltava Trio.  😊
