Jiří Polydor Sextet & Eva Emingerová @ U Staré paní 10.4.2025
It was an evening to the enthusiasts of swinging jazz standards at the Old Lady last night when Jiří Polydor Sextet (Jan Štolba – sax; Ladislav Kautský – tr; Matěj Šmíd – trb; Petr Mikeš – dr; Antonín Šturma – b; Jiří Polydor – p.) feat. Eva Emingerová on vocals held the stage for a three set performance. Jiří Polydor, who is also an internationally recognized pianist, stayed true to the music from what he is best known for these days, the old swing tunes, mostly from the era around the 1930s and 1940s.
Jiří whose skills nobody needed to question had of course surrounded himself with musicians of the same quality as himself and with singer Eva Emingerová as a guest star, the small but enthusiastic audience got what they had come for. The music played last night, very much in the way it was originally presented, is the ground to the whole world we call jazz today and Jiří Polydor Sextet with Eva Emingerová are very good ambassadors to carry forward that heritage.
