Elsa Nilsson - Band of Pulses @ Ateliér 57, 23.2.2025
Once a month the best jazz club in Prague, the one in Beuron, offers us a musical experience that normally holds a very high standard in every way, we are used to and spoiled with this. Last night with Elsa Nilsson – Band of Pulses, Elsa Nilsson – fluet; Santiago Leibson – p; Marty Kenney – b; Rodrigo Recabarren – dr; made no exception but… This was something so much more, a journey to the unknown, poetry filled with sensitivity, harmony, joy… all performed in the most beautiful words of music. The balance and the pleasing consistency they all had together in their performance is maybe not surprising considering that this was the last concert on their European tour, and yet here was something one doesn’t experience every day. Do I sound lyrical? That’s because I am, and yet it’s nothing compared to the feeling I had last night after the concert. I’ll leave all the adjectives about the band’s technical skills, as the more intellectual way to describe last night’s performance to those who understand something about music. I only hope I transfered something about the very unique feeling from last yesterday’s concert to you so you can extend your field of music, if you have the possibility, just like I did last night…
Thank you Elsa Nilsson – Band of Pulses,

Where's the limit?
I remember talking last autumn to our hosts Jesse and Bara about the issue they will face when running out of artists for their monthly events at Ateliér 57. They both assured me that this is no problem, and they for sure has proved their point, sort of. Because after last night I’m wondering how they will keep up this standard of the performing artists. The fact is that “While eating, hunger grows.”, and we in the audience are getting very hungry. But since this is not my problem, I just follow along and enjoy what’s offered, and yes, I do understand to appreciate the work and effort put in by Jesse and Bara to allow us these small miracles, events of joy and pleasure in this special environment. I’m fully aware that behind this is hard work, useful contacts etc.

So, see you on April 27th.
