How a fake AI artist became Sweden’s newest musical sensation.
Kill the Artist...
The heist started in late 2025. Employees inside the Danish music publisher Stellar Music were working deep inside the company’s AI division. By feeding calculated algorithms into their musical software, they engineered a viral, melancholy folk-pop track titled “Jag vet, du är inte min” (“I Know, You’re Not Mine”).
The team at Stellar Music deliberately targeted Sweden over Denmark. The song was designed as a stealth market prototype—a test to see if Nordic streaming audiences could be fooled by an AI pop star. To pull it off, they invented a completely fake persona: Jacub.
According to official data, the track rocketed to No. 1 on Sweden’s Spotify charts on January 9, 2026. It generated over 6.5 million global streams in a matter of weeks. They didn’t need a digital avatar; they created Jacub as an active audition for a world where music corporations never have to deal with human artists ever again.
An Amateur Mistake?
- Zero Digital Footprint: For an artist with the biggest song in the country, Jacub had no social media, no promo photos, and no public profile.
- No Industry Presence: There were no managers, no press releases, and no interviews.
- No Live Footprint: There were no concert dates anywhere on record.
Listeners on TikTok even noticed the vocals sounded suspiciously like the popular human Swedish singer Albin Lee Meldau.
That is when Karlsten dug into the official STIM copyright registry data. He pulled back the curtain and found the track registered to executives at Stellar Music’s artificial intelligence division. The track was promptly banned from the official charts by the IFPI.
But what looks like a “stupid mistake” by the tech team wasn’t an oversight. They didn’t care about getting caught by a journalist. Jacub was merely a Trojan horse for a multi-million dollar, automated “ghost catalog” business.
