Your Hotspots for September

September's Ultimate Hot Spot! 🔥 Petra Ernyeiová bids farewell to summer with a deeply unique new project.

Where to go and who to listen to...

Jazzy Summer 2026 is slowly moving towards autumn, but there is still plenty of summer left and the tempo remains incomprehensible! 🎷 The domestic offering is so abundant that it’s hard to stay on the ride.

In my opinion, as many of you know, Prague is the true jazz capital of Europe. There is constantly so much happening—but there is always room for more! If I missed a great gig that belongs on this list, email me and I’ll try to include it next month. Just please, no last-minute calls! 📧🚫

🎷 Jazz on the Roof – September Lineup
You all know I am incredibly fond of this concept for so many reasons: classy music at a very affordable price, a perfect way to introduce jazz to first-timers, and the ultimate start to your weekend. Located right in the heart of Prague, it is just a short walk to anywhere you want to spend the rest of your evening—or you can just stay right where you are! We still have some gorgeous summer left! 😊

Being out on the roof is amazing, but if the weather turns, moving downstairs under the roof isn’t bad either! One thing you can always be sure of: the artists are top-tier. To make your planning easy, here is this month’s Saturday afternoon lineup. Pay close attention to the starting time—we are back to 15:00 again!

    • 5.9.Jamie Marshall Duo ft. Svatka Hlávková Štěpánková (This is something you absolutely do not want to miss—Come Rain or Come Shine! 🌧️ ☀️)
    • 12.9.Elin & Coucou Trio (This trio is new to me, but look at the keywords: French chanson, accordéon nostalgia, Parisian cafés, and the streets of Montmartre. Do you really need anything else? 🇫🇷🍷)
    • 19.9.Ondřej Kabrna & Flying Accordion (The man who plays with his whole body! And look at the friends he’s bringing along: Jaroslav Šindler on guitar and Antonín Šturma on bass!)
    • 26.9.Roaring Wild Cats Prague (The band’s leaflet says it best: „Wild energy and sweet cuddliness of the Roaring Twenties.“ 🐾🎷)

📌  Jazz Dock Roof | Saturdays @ 15:00

Original Prague syncopated orchestra;
The 70th edition of the Dvořák Festival is offering a fantastic little specialty for jazz lovers. This is definitely something to keep in mind! A wonderful deviation from the festival’s normal classical patterns, the performing band is anything but unknown, and the entrance fee is practically a gift at just 100 CZK.
Prague – Dubec historical granary ( historical Špejchar), Wednesday 2.9 @19:00

Jan Kyncl with guest(s);
This features one of the most talented saxophonists in the entire Republic! While I don’t have all the insider details on the guest lineup just yet, Honza’s commanding tone and skill are more than worth the trip all by themselves. Come out, support a brilliant local artist, and enjoy an evening of top-tier saxophone work!
U Staré paní, Wednesday 16.9 @20:00

Luboš Soukup Quartet – Album release;
We have all been waiting a long time for this milestone event! While Luboš works with many different incredible lineups, this particular quartet is absolute top-tier. Expect an unforgettable evening of brilliant compositions and world-class interplay as they officially launch their highly anticipated new album. You do not want to miss this!

  • Luboš Soukup – sax
  • Jiří Levíček – piano
  • Jaromír Honzák – bass
  • Jakub Švejnar – drum

Jazz Dock, Friday 18.9 @19:00

👑 Petra Ernyeiová: Female Voices Across Centuries (Hot in the HotSpots)

POSLEDNÍ LETNÍ NOC VE STARÉ ČISTÍRNĚ
This month’s ultimate feature brings us one of Petra Ernyeiová’s most fascinating and deeply interesting projects yet. To capture the magic of this evening, look no further than the concert’s beautiful concept: it “connects the stories of women who lived centuries ago in Spain, Portugal, Turkey, and Morocco with the beautiful songs of the golden era of jazz.”

Just take one look at the powerhouse lineup she has assembled for this event—it is more than impressive! Set against the stunning historic backdrop of the old wastewater treatment plant, this end-of-summer concert is going to be pure magic. Don’t miss it!
  • Petra Ernyeiová – vocals
  • Adam Tvrdý – guitar
  • Petr Dvorský – bass
  • Miloš Dvořáček – drums
  • Marcel Bárta – saxophone

🎺 Julian Hesse Quartet
I know he’s not originally from the domestic scene, but there is a brilliant exception to every rule—and this is absolutely one of them! This horn will completely blow your mind, and you have the lucky chance to catch him twice this month. Do yourself a favor and make sure you do!
  • Julian Hesse – trumpet
  • Libor Šmoldas – guitar
  • Peter Cudek – bass
  • Jesse Simpson – drums

Jazz Dock, Friday 25.9 @19.00

🎺 Julian Hesse Quartet
This is not the first time this incredible horn has echoed over Beroun, and I sincerely hope it won’t be the last! I highly suggest you show up early. Julian has performed here before, and you can fully expect the jazz-knowing people of Beroun to fill the room early for this one!

  • Jesse Simpson – drums

Ateliér 57, Sunday 27.9 @19.00

🎸 Libor Šmoldas Residency @ U Staré paní
I’m trying a brand-new concept this month! One of Europe’s leading jazz guitarists, Libor Šmoldas, is involved in so many incredible happenings at the Old Lady that I decided to list them all under one roof. Take your pick—there is bound to be something in here to satisfy your musical hunger!
Notable are the two late-night jam sessions, which have become some of the most popular events in the city. And it’s no wonder: they are fun, relaxed, and filled with excellent, nonstop music between 20:00 and 23:00. Pay close attention to the “In Duo” night as well—that concept is always worth it. Here is your ultimate September checklist:
  • Wed 9.9. @ 20:00 – Libor’s Jam Session 🎷
  • Fri 11.9. @ 20:00 – Zeuritia Quartet
  • Thu 17.9. @ 20:00 – Libor Šmoldas Organ Trio
  • Sat 19.9. @ 20:00 – Bohemia After Dark
  • Wed 23.9. @ 20:00 – Libor’s Jam Session 🥁
  • Wed 30.9. @ 20:00 – Libor Šmoldas In Duo
📌 Where: U Staré paní (Praha 1)
📌 Worth noting:
  • Štěpán Markovič & AghaRTA Gang – AghaRTA Jazz Centrum (Thu 10.9. & Thu 24.9. @ 21:00)
  • Jaroslav Šindler Quartet – AghaRTA Jazz Centrum (Sat 12.9. & Sun 27.9. @ 21:00)
  • Guitar September & Prague Guitar Forum (12.9. – 14.9. @ Various Times)
The festival is beautifully split into two main formats:
    • Prague Guitar Forum: The educational side, featuring a weekend of lectures, professional discussions, and practical workshops. It acts as a fantastic networking space for teachers, students, and advanced amateurs.
    • Kytara září (Guitar September): The public concert series featuring performances by top international classical guitarists.
