Jazz in Písek 2026: An Exclusive "Live" Coverage Event
The Czech Republic’s only fiercely independent, ad-free music blog, yhalinen.com, is officially hitting the road to bring you another unique, front-row festival experience!
Tomorrow, Friday, August 7th, I’ll be in the south to deliver near-real-time coverage of the 10th anniversary of Jazz in Písek. My camera lens and notebook will have a very special concentration on one of the country’s most compelling modern groups: the Libor Šmoldas Quartet, celebrating their stellar release Sorry, Miles!.
I will be capturing the full scope of this charming, highly regarded single-day festival in Palackého sady. What this cozy park event lacks in physical size, it easily makes up for in pure artistic weight, consistently drawing top-tier Czech musicians and select international heavyweights. Faithful to my chosen path, my main focus will remain on the local heavy-hitters. The Libor Šmoldas Quartet will be taking the stage with a fascinating, slightly modified lineup. For the true fans in attendance, this will also be a rare opportunity to purchase a physical copy of Sorry, Miles! on the spot and grab autographs directly from the musicians.
If you are unable to make the trip down to South Bohemia in person, don’t worry—I completely have you covered. Make sure to bookmark yhalinen.com right now. Fresh photo galleries, sharp commentary, and live highlights will be uploaded directly to the site during the stage changes throughout the evening!
