OJ Žlábek & His Harpriders @ U Staré Paní 15.1.2026
I know, the headline is not very original and honestly, a bit boring, but that’s the only thing that was boring last night. Because when OJ brought his Harpriders, Marcel Flemr – g; Jan Svorník – b; Marcus Jurkovič – dr; Ondřej Žlábek – harp, to the Old Lady the intensitivity and pace they had in their performance was something you don’t experience every day. I personally think the Harpriders have, after their record release almost a year ago, taken huge steps in their musical and stage performance development, not that there was anything wrong with it to start with!
Their self confidence has clearly grown, there is a different kind of joy in everything they do, more relaxed, more mature?, maybe it’s only my imagination but… They are past the stage of being a good blues band, they are so much more, and everything is to be seen and heard when they take the stage. The dialogue between the OJ:s harp and Marcels guitar took us to new spheres that at least I haven’t heard from them before, absolutely breathtaking performances. And the individual solos performed alternately by each member of the band were of equal value and of the same high quality, especially the bass solo at the end of the second set!
And when you add to this the pride and joy they have in their doing you understand that we all were back to Sweet Home Chicago, I meen Prague, or maybe it was Chicago… If you have the chance, go and look and listen yourself, because they are more than worth it!
Thank you OJ Žlábek & The Harpriders
