From the past and present

Last night we closed the musical week at the Old Lady to the sounds of jazz standards from the past and present. Skillful American jazz pianist Skip Wilkins, with his only live concert in the republic on his European tour this time, and our own Petra Vlková with her charismatic and personal performance did their best to make us forget prevailing weather conditions outside and trust me, they did!  Skip, a virtuoso in his own field showed us why he’s been around for over 40 years and is still going strong. Last night clearly with the theme “Keep it simple” he still managed to give us some great solos that got well-deserved respect and appreciation from the audience.

And when you add to that Petra who is maybe now living on the peak of her singing career? With a question mark because I have a feeling that I said that already last year and will probably say it next year , Petra captivates the audience in her own very special way. Her stage performance is sincere and genuine, her voice has a way of holding the audience’s attention, a way that makes you lose track of time.

So in all, a perfect ending to the musical week, thank you Petra and Skip .
