Petra Vlková & Sonic Playground; Debut album release @ U Staré paní 10.9.2025
This was going to be a small blog about the party and the joy of releasing an album after all the hard work that it requires, but the stage performance last night was so extraordinary that I will stick to that. Look at the photos (the very many photos

) to get the whole picture of last night, because if I write about both it will turn into a book that nobody has the time to read…It’s no secret to anybody that I really like Petra Vlková & Sonic Playground, Petra Vlková – voc; Libor Šmoldas – g; Mikuláš Pokorný – p. their honest, skillful and most of all their joyable approach to what they do is something so special and authentic that in my eyes and ears!, this is the way music should be performed. I’ve reviewed many of their gigs and concerts not saving on the superlatives because to me they are worth it, everyone of them, and yet after last night’s concerts at the Old Lady (U Staré paní) I found myself speechless!
This is a group...
One should never compare, especially in the world of music since every individual, concert, band etc. is an original, a unique happening in its own surrounding and yet… Petra is an emotional singer, and yesterday was of course special with the first album release for Playground, the feelings and adrenaline that erupted to the first song for the evening, Just You, Just Me set the pace for the rest of the night. I can’t remember that I ever heard such a brilliant performance from Petra, the voice being stronger and clearer than ever before, only to show us that there’s still very much potential for day’s to come. A small climax was heard in Blame It on My Youth where Libors and Mikuláš beautiful playing brought tears to her eyes and a slight tremor was noticeable in her voice, this of pure joy and love for the music. Trust me Petra, you were not the only one with those feelings…
I already mentioned Libor and Mikuláš, who seemed to have found one level more in their liaison, a level that feeds itself the more they play, where individual solos and accompaniments blend together in a way that they are hard to separate. A unity that is hard to explain, but then again, there’s no need to, just enjoy what is being served in this 5 star musical Micheline performance, last night was just a big WOW!
I must mention, just like Petra did, that a big part of the sound yesterday belongs to Honza, a brilliant soundenginer. A profession often forgotten if he does his work like he’s supposed to, remembered only when something goes wrong! Nice going Honza, when all the small parts are put together… 
All the individual performances themself are so high class that they could each have a concert of their own but when put together this is outstanding, something to value, develop and take care of. The door is now open, it’s your world if you want to take it…

The same standards that’s been played by everybody but with that little twist that Playground possesses and that makes it almost unique.
