Changing a working formula…

It takes a lot of skill and self confidence to change a working formula, not to lean back on what is already achieved, even as close as at the latest gig, to constantly keep renewing yourself without knowing the end result. This is what  sifts the chaff from the grain. I’m of course referring to Petra Vlková & Sonic Playground, Petra Vlková – voc; Libor Šmoldas – g; Mikuláš Pokorný – p. who last night at U Staré paní gave us a concert full of surprises, once again!  With an intensive and raw sound that we have not heard from this group before, it astonished us in the audience in a very positive way. Libor and Mikuláš were given more space than usual to show the completely flawless togetherness they have with each other. Petra was not far behind with her own solos using the hard art of scat singing something that she maybe vocalizes best in the whole republic?, at least last night it for sure sounded like that. When you top this off with the emotion and love all three of them have for the music they’re giving us you understand that this was an evening well spent. 

It would be a very easy way out to make the conclusion that last night’s performance was inspired by the bands new album that saw the daylight last Friday, but no. I’ll not walk that line, because what we saw and heard yesterday has become a trade mark for Petra Vlková & Sonic Playground, a trade mark that makes one come to their concerts over and over again. You’ll never know what you’re gonna get, the only thing that you can be sure of is that it will be good! Thank you guys once again and see you next time…
