Kelly Green & Luca Soul Trio

The best jazz club in Prague, the one in Beroun, had its end of the season concert last night and in what way! An almost sold out A57 saw Kelly Green (voc.p) & Luca Soul (b) with guest and host Jesse Simpson (dr) give a concert that held more or less the basics of what this is all about. Quality, joy and the love of music presented in a very original and special atmosphere. This New York trio, yes I know, Jesse is a more or less integrated Czech today 😉, but these guys are old friends from New York and one could actually hear that. The N.Y.C. trio gave us two sets that included old jazz standards, own compositions from Kelly and Luca, all performed in perfect harmony and style and with great skill. Luca and Kelly have been touring Europe now for a month so one could expect a little fatigue to be seen, but forget it, especially Kelly’s very energetic and vigorous way with the piano got the audience getting loud ovations every now and then, all very well deserved. I’m fully aware that this is a trio of full blooded professional performing, but when you walk away after two sets of music that was given to you in perfection and you have the feeling that they played only for me, then you know that you’ve experienced something special. Thank you Kelly, Luca and Jesse for a night to remember…      

And as usual the arrangements made by Atelier 57 were in line with the whole evening, i.e. perfect, thank you Bara 😀 It’s understandable that A57 needs and deserves a break after a year like this, but most of us will still be waiting for February so, see you then!
